Panchak Nakshatra lasts for about five days each month. It occurs when the Moon is positioned in Aquarius (Kumbh) and Pisces (Meen) zodiac signs. Certain activities are considered prohibited during this period as any mistake during these activities may lead to unfavorable consequences in the future.

Prohibited Activities During Panchak

The following activities are considered inauspicious and should be avoided during Panchak:

  1. Traveling South – Traveling in the southern direction during Panchak is considered inauspicious. If travel is necessary, worship Lord Hanuman before departure.
  2. Constructing Roofs for Houses or Shops – It is believed that constructing a roof during Panchak can lead to discord and unrest in the household.
  3. Weaving Cots and Beds – Making a bed or cot during Panchak is believed to bring premature death in the family.
  4. Performing Last Rites (Funeral) – If someone passes away during Panchak, it is necessary to perform special rituals before cremation to avoid negative effects.
  5. Making Bamboo Mats & Wall Construction – Engaging in such activities during Panchak may lead to financial losses and difficulties.
  6. Pillar Construction and Metal Storage – Constructing pillars and accumulating metals like copper, brass, or wood during Panchak is considered unlucky.

  1. Marriage and Griha Pravesh (Housewarming Ceremony) – Performing marriage ceremonies or entering a new home during Panchak is considered auspicious as it strengthens relationships and stability.
  2. Mundan Ceremony (First Haircut) – Performing a child’s Mundan (head shaving ritual) during Panchak is allowed, especially if other planetary positions are favorable.
  3. Bride’s Home Entry & Sacred Thread Ceremony (Upanayan Sanskar) – These rituals are not affected by Panchak and are considered fruitful.
  4. Starting a Business – The influence of Panchak does not affect the launch of a new business if other astrological factors support it.

Remedies to Overcome Panchak Dosha

If it is necessary to perform an important task during Panchak, the following remedies can help reduce negative effects:

  1. Recite Hanuman Chalisa and worship Lord Hanuman before traveling south.
  2. Donate to cows, Brahmins, and the needy to pacify the Panchak Dosha.
  3. If performing a funeral, cremate five effigies (puppets made of flour or grass) along with the deceased.
